Moosa Charan

Moosa Charan (third from right) belongs to the fishermen's community of a centuries old fishing village off the Karachi coast. Traditionally the fishermen have been acquiring fishing boats by borrowing from the private money lenders at 180% interest per annum, with a condition that the entire borrowed amount must be paid back in one lump sum. It effectively means a never ending debt.

This boat that Moosa has leased will become his property in three years, a prospect that Moosa previously thought would never become reality.
