Javaid of Labha Tea Stall

The story was narrated by the client in a local language to our Programme Officers, who translated it.  It is being reproduced without any editing.

"I studied three classes in a school but later on I left the school due to some problems.  I started working as labourer on daily wages I had a strong desire to care much than I earned as a labourer.  I had no money to start a reasonable business.  I opened a Tea Stall.  My financial condition started getting better.  Along with the Tea Stall.  I started a "Tandoor" for breads but that was a failure.  My Tea Stall in this sub-industrial area of Lahore which serves labourers who come from villages to work.

"I needed a freezer badly because sometimes there was a wastage of milk, if milk could not be utilized by the evening.  Some time the milk man could not supply milk on time on account of his personal problems.  It caused decrease in sale.  I was not in a position to invest for a new freezer.

"My sister works in the local community centre.  When Network Leasing contacted the community centre providing lease facility to small business set ups, she told me about the programme.  With some confusion and doubts in mind,  I contacted the representative of Network Leasing.  The representative of the company came to my Tea Stall and explained the process of leasing to me.  I felt that the procedure of the leasing was simple and easy and it encouraged me to apply for the lease of freezer.  The representative of the Network Leasing again visited my Tea Stall and assessed my income before approval of my application.

"I got a freezer on lease It not only has saved me from the wastage of the milk but also have enabled me to store some milk for next morning.  Moreover I have started the business of cold drinks after having the freezer.  This generates additional income for me and I pay my installment from this income.  In the season of rains, I face some financial problems, because rain water stays in the streets and on the roads for weeks.  But as a whole I am in better position.  In future I intend to expand my business with the collaboration of Network."
